On the 15th of August 2021- The realm of True Freedom

I woke with the thought of my 5th standard social studies lesson about India. They used the metaphor – India – a melting pot . The Melting Pot’, a metaphor used to represent the synthesis of various cultures, to describe the unity in different essences or the presence of different hues at a single place. … India is a melting pot of different cultures encompassing in itself various languages, traditions, music, art, and whatnot.

This morn I also woke up to a world still struggling to deal with a virus that kills without checking on our religion culture gender caste color or sexual orientation. A virus that adapts and teaches us to adapt to match pace and overcome differences. Life is neither static nor Unchanging . With no individuality and no variety, there can be no change, no adaptation and, in this inherently changing world. Any species (including ourselves)unable to adapt is doomed. Isn’t it strange that we always want variety in what we eat but often not from the people we eat with?

The India of my dreams is that of of infinitive and valuable variety, not only of human variety of color, hair , nose and lip, gender, religion , culture, orientation, art. But more and far beyond this is a realm of true freedom: in thought and dream, fantasy and imagination; in gift, aptitude, and genius—all possible manner of difference, topped with freedom of soul to do and be, and freedom of thought to give to a world and build into it, all wealth of inborn individuality.  On our 75th year of independence I Dream of my India as a true democracy with invaluable variety and a freedom of “being”.

Every effort to stop this freedom of “being” is an attack at democracy—that real democracy which is reservoir and opportunity . We can only be free by embracing the diversity of this melting pot. We can be ourselves by embracing our individuality and that of others only by melting into this melting pot without resistance. We can be free only when we truly experience a freedom of “being.”

And when we are truly free in our being , then we are free being together . And together can we accomplish all – even Peace.

I wish us a True democracy with freedom of “Being”

No one rejects, dislikes, or avoids pleasure itself, because it is pleasure, but we choose.
